Children’s Lunchbox: Feeding Kids Through the School Year

It’s estimated there are 21,000+ hungry children in the Anchorage area. With students back in school, The Children’s Lunchbox began its weekend food program to help combat this issue.

Every Friday, it delivers about 3,000 food bags to seven Title 1 schools. Bags contain enough food for up to four meals and a snack to sustain a child through the weekend.

Helping low-income students stay nourished and ready to learn when back at school Monday, the weekend food program is completely funded by community and corporate donations.
