University of Alaska fuels discussion about campus free speech

campus free speech

At a public forum hosted by the University of Alaska earlier this month, Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean of Berkeley Law and author of “Free Speech on Campus,” said universities have an obligation to protect free speech on college campuses.

The forum included a panel discussion about free speech with insights from UA general counsel, a student journalist and the ACLU.

Chemerinsky is known nationally as a thought-leader on the timely topic of free speech, an issue that is frequently in headlines. The topic is an ongoing focus for UA with more conversations, workshops, discussions and forums planned at all campuses.
