Anchorage looks forward to the Solstice Tree Tour at Kincaid Park, a family-friendly event on Sunday, Dec. 17, which celebrates the winter solstice with decorated trees along a popular Nordic skiing trail. Diehard runners can head north to Willow for the Willow Winter Solstice Run on Saturday, Dec. 16, featuring a marathon, half marathon and 5K race.
During the winter solstice week, Fairbanks hosts a weeklong winter solstice celebration that boasts an exciting fireworks show, local musical performances, shopping and artistic events.
