In Alaska, the seafood industry accounts for billions of dollars in labor activity.
Alaska Sea Grant is supporting this vital sector with its Alaska Seafood Processing Leadership Institute, a program that provides continuing education for mid-career seafood processing workers in areas of professional development, technical training, leadership and management. The program will take place in Kodiak Nov. 13-17, 2017, and again in Anchorage, March 5-9, 2018.
Created in 2006, the institute has graduated roughly 70 people, who have been able to further advance their seafood careers after gaining the skills necessary for managerial, engineering and executive roles.
