Look around the state and it’s not hard to see that the aviation section has a stronghold. Just how much it impacts Alaska business was unclear, though. Recently, the Alaska Division of Economic Development released a comprehensive report that details the economic benefits.
A few highlights from the report include:
• The aviation sector accounts for $1.56 billion in earnings annually in Alaska.
• There are 10 pilots for every 1,000 residents in Alaska. Nationally it is less than two pilots per 1,000 residents.
• Twelve percent of Alaska jobs come from the aviation sector.
