Supporting Alaska’s foster kids

by The 100 Companies

Self-isolation and being socially distant are new practices for some of us, but kids in Alaska’s foster care system can experience these feelings often.

Beacon Hill Executive Director Kristen Bierma says, “children in foster care often experience increased anxiety, fear and difficulty regulating emotions due to past trauma. During this global season of uncertainty and change, these emotions may increase.”

How can you offer support to this vulnerable population while still practicing social distancing yourself?

• Reach out to a foster family you might know to offer resources and support.

•  Donate to Beacon Hill.

•  Contribute to Facing Foster Care in Alaska.
