CDC approves Pfizer vaccine for ages 16+

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) for the prevention of COVID-19 for individuals ages 16+. It continues to be available under emergency use authorization for ages 12-15, and as a third dose for certain immunocompromised individuals. This COVID-19 vaccine officially meets the rigorous safety, effectiveness and manufacturing standards the FDA reserves for all approved vaccines.

Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines continue to be available under emergency use authorization for people 18+. Both are also pursuing full approval.
