Live music around Alaska to kick off the year

by

Along with the new year comes one of Alaska’s favorite annual live music events, the Anchorage Folk Festival.

From Jan. 17-28, main stage performances will be held at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium. In addition to local favorites such as the Hannah Yoter Band, week one will feature guest artist Seamus Egan, and week two will feature the Gonzalo Bergara Quintet.

Recently nominated for two Grammy Awards, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, which rose to prominence after being featured on Paul Simon’s “Graceland” album, will bring its fun-for-all-ages act to Anchorage and Fairbanks on Jan. 19 and 20, respectively.
