Juneau chef racks up 7th James Beard Award nomination

Alaskan food with Italian flavor is In Bocca Al Lupo’s specialty and chef Beau Schooler’s honors keep rolling in with yet another Best Chef semifinalist nomination. Diners – whether they come dressed to impress or in fishing garb – are taken by the fare with influences of Filipino and Alaska Native culture.

Patrons describe the cauliflower appetizer with hot honey and blue cheese as a “chef’s kiss.” Thunderdome is “carb heaven,” a dome of bread with a pile of cloud-like fluffy butter. And they praise the lemon tart that has just the right amount of sweet and sour and a perfect crust.
