Memorial Day weekend is often seen as the official kick-off to warmer weather. However, it’s important to remember the sacrifices made by our military so that we may have the freedom to enjoy this and every other weekend.
• Honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice with a patriotic ceremony at the Delaney Park Strip, in downtown Anchorage.
• Get out of town and go camping.
• Hop aboard the Alaska Railroad, which began summer service May 11. Book a ticket, and enjoy the beginning of summer from panoramic, glass-dome train cars.
• Visit an Alaska national park.
