New junior hockey team hitting the ice in Anchorage

by The 100 Companies

Anchorage hockey fans, where are you?

Competitive junior hockey is coming to Anchorage for the 2021-22 season. The Anchorage Wolverines will be competing in the North American Hockey League’s Midwest division alongside the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears. The team’s logo, home venue and other season details will be announced at a virtual launch event on the team’s Facebook page Wednesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. AST.

The team name is a nod to the city’s first semi-professional team formed in the 1970s and is said to have helped build hockey popularity in Alaska’s largest city.
