Did you know America’s favorite salad dressing was created as a way to get Alaska bush crews to eat their veggies?
Steve Henson moved to Alaska in 1949 to work as a contractor in the booming oil industry. In an effort to get his hungry coworkers to eat vegetables and salad, Henson whipped up what would become Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.
After leaving Alaska, Henson and his wife went on to purchase a ranch in California that later inspired the name of the famous dressing brand.
