We are all adjusting to the present situation. Social distancing and self-isolating to prevent the spread of or exposure to COVID-19 are definitely the responsible things to do. Not everyone has the ability to do so safely, though.

If you or someone you know may be isolated with an abuser, there are options. AWAIC Executive Director Suzi Pearson offers this advice:

• First, get to a safe place where you are able to make a phone call.

• Leave and go to a public place if you must.

• AWAIC will provide transportation to the shelter.

Contact AWAIC’s 24-hour support hotline at 907-272-0001.
