T&C started The Open Doors Initiative to ensure we are inclusive in all that we do. The team has changed how we service clients, offering perspectives that may have fallen silent in years past.
It’s not easy, though.
One reason it can feel daunting to represent other cultures is because those cultures have been so underrepresented. There might be fewer PR mishaps if diversity were more pervasive — or if the people from those diverse backgrounds were given a louder voice. We formed a council of diverse Alaskans to help guide us. Accuracy is achieved through listening.
