Summer is almost here, and Alaska is getting ready for a very busy peak travel season. Here are some highlights:

• Cruising is expected to break records with more than 1.3 million visitors.

• United Airlines is adding two new, non-stop routes between Fairbanks and San Francisco and between Denver and Fairbanks.

• The Alaska Railroad is adding new packages that will help visitors explore two of the state’s national parks.

Katmai National Park and Preserve is finishing construction of an elevated boardwalk across the Brooks River to create more opportunities for bear viewing.
