Summer is almost here, and Alaska is getting ready for a very busy peak travel season. Here are some highlights:

• Cruising is expected to break records with more than 1.3 million visitors.

• United Airlines is adding two new, non-stop routes between Fairbanks and San Francisco and between Denver and Fairbanks.

• The Alaska Railroad is adding new packages that will help visitors explore two of the state’s national parks.

• Katmai National Park and Preserve is finishing construction of an elevated boardwalk across the Brooks River to create more opportunities for bear viewing.
