Find your competitive spirit with the Valdez Fish Derbies

While many enjoy a nice leisurely day of fishing, in Alaska it is all about stocking the freezer for winter. Summer in Valdez also provides a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes. Catch salmon and halibut as part of the Valdez Fish Derbies where each entry ticket costs only $10.

The six Valdez fishing derbies, which run throughout the summer, include:

• Halibut Derby, May 23 – Sept. 6.

• Silver Derby, July 25 – Sept. 6.

• Kids Pink Salmon Derby, July 25.

• Big Prize Friday, July 31 and Sept. 4.

• Tagged Fish Content, Aug. 7 – Sept. 6.

• Women’s Silver Salmon Derby, Aug. 8.
