Summer in Alaska brings the bears from their dens, the salmon to fresh streams and tourists from around the world to Alaska.

In honor of National Tourism Week, here are some quick facts about the positive economic impact the tourism industry has on Alaska:

• Each year, more than 2.25 million visitors come to Alaska.

• One in 10 Alaskans is employed by the tourism industry.

• $2.2 billion is spent in-state by visitors at large and small tourism businesses.

• Four years in a row, visitor volume has increased.

All statistics come from the McDowell Group survey conducted in 2018.
