Shoppers in Anchorage will notice a big change on Sept. 15 – the day a plastic bag ban goes into effect. Supporters hope the ban will reduce litter in Anchorage and also lower the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills.
Assemblyman Christopher Constant tells The Alaska 100, “Ideally people will bring their own reusable bags. Many organizations are generously giving them out for free right now.” He added that shoppers will have free access to bags for items like produce and meat.
