Sun Country Airlines is giving Alaskans a new reason to say, “Viva Las Vegas!” The airline announced that it will launch nonstop seasonal service between Anchorage’s Ted Stevens International Airport and Las Vegas starting May 18. Beginning June 5, there will be four nonstop flights each week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Anchorage Airport Manager Jim Szczesniak said the airport’s been working to secure more nonstop flights because it stimulates growth.
Direct flights operated by United Airlines are slated to start later this year between Alaska and Harbin, China, as well as a direct service between Fairbanks and Denver.
