Alaska’s initial allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived and have been administered to more than 18,000 Alaskans. The COVID-19 vaccine plays an important role in ending the global pandemic, much like other vaccines that have reduced preventable diseases in Alaska, like measles and diphtheria.
Additional information:
• Vaccines protect individuals and the people around them.
• The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is proven to be 95% effective.
• The Moderna vaccine is proven to be 94.1% effective.
• COVID-19 vaccines will be offered at no cost to Alaskans.
Alaskans are encouraged to speak with their health care provider and can learn more by visiting covidvax.alaska.gov.
