With almost 45,000 locations in 113 countries, Subway restaurants seem to be on every other street corner in the Lower 48.
In the continent’s northernmost city of Utqiaġvik, formerly Barrow, it is more of an anomaly. With a population of fewer than 5,000, the city’s dining options are very limited. Co-owner John Masterson held a soft opening for the restaurant in August 2017 and looks forward to bringing more variety to Barrow.
The world’s northernmost Subway franchise location and Barrow’s first fast-food chain hopes to bring healthy, fresh and convenient dining options to local residents.
