As we continually learn about Black history and culture this February for Black History Month, we are taking a look at the stories of Black individuals living in Alaska.
“Black Lives in Alaska” is written by Ian C. Hartman and David Reamer, sharing the history of Black individuals making a home for themselves in Alaska and the obstacles they faced, from the 19th century to present day.
The book is just short of 200 pages, and is a recommended read, as well as a valuable resource, for those looking to educate themselves about Black experiences and their roots in Alaska.
