The origin of the Alaska vs. Texas feud is the same thing that keeps the friendly feud alive today – Alaska took the No. 1 spot away from Texas as the largest state in the U.S.
The height of the feud lasted from 1958-1959 and it can be seen in music, postcards and even a book with compliments and insults for both sides.
Postcards evolved into memes and the friendly feud lives on today. In the end, Texas was already well-established for its size and its reputation remains largely intact while Alaska continues on as the largest state – everyone wins!
