Growing up in Brazil, Halloween wasn’t a big deal. Instead, we were all about Carnival. Born on Halloween, though, I did find ways to celebrate the holiday with friends. Although Halloween is gaining popularity in parts of Brazil, it doesn’t compare to the U.S.
While living in Boston and New York City, I experienced a traditional American Halloween, including intense costume preparations and hunting for the perfect party with friends and candy.
Now, as a Texan, my city’s influenced by Mexican Dia de Los Muertos traditions. From paper flowers to candy skulls, it’s another way to experience Halloween.
