Labor Day weekend in Alaska can be taken with a glass half-empty or glass half-full approach. It may mark the end of Alaska’s glorious summer season, but it’s also a long weekend to check off the last items on your summer to-do list.
• Fishing: Stock that freezer. Silvers are running on the KP.
• Hiking: Just south of Anchorage, Rainbow Peak trail offers great views and a chance to do some scrambling.
• Boating: Whether kayaking around a lake in town or venturing out on an ocean boat, summer isn’t complete until you spend a day on the water.
