by
Pete Kaiser

Bethel’s Pete Kaiser and his canine team won the 2019 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race after crossing under the burled arch in Nome on March 13 at 3:39 a.m. A few fun facts about Alaska’s new mushing royalty:

• Kaiser was born and raised in Bethel and began his mushing career as a kid with the family dog, Giant.

• He’s a four-time, consecutive champion of the Kuskokwim 300.

• Kaiser’s lead dog, Morrow, led his team into Nome three years in a row and was voted most outstanding lead dog.

Let the countdown begin for the 2020 Iditarod race.
