Driving down Hyder Street in Fairview, it would be hard to miss the bright mural on the once-unsightly retention wall. The artist? Spc. Andrew Garcia, an Army soldier living in Anchorage, by way of Texas, who has gained JBER and Anchorage fame for his graffiti art.
A hobby that once sent him to jail has now grown to a full-blown side hustle with recognition from his Army superiors and other community members across Alaska.
Keep an eye out for Garcia’s latest project, a large mural on the Anchorage Museum’s SEED Lab building.
