Give thanks for these great events around Alaska this November

Break out the turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and make time for family, fun and community this Thanksgiving. We’ve carved out a list of events that’ll provide a bounty of good times:

• Anchorage’s tree lighting ceremony: Gather downtown to see Santa and his reindeer as they light up the tree in Town Square Park on Nov. 26, from 5-7 p.m.

• Great Alaska Shootout: The annual women’s basketball tournament tips off on Nov. 18, and brings in schools from the Lower 48 to take on the UAA Seawolves.

• Small Business Saturday: Support Alaska’s thousands of independent small businesses on Nov. 26.
