Alaska Aviation Museum highlights significant World War II battles

The Alaska Aviation Museum opened two new exhibits showcasing the 75th commemorative anniversary of the recapture of the Japanese-held islands Kiska and Attu by U.S. forces.

The Kiska Exhibit, provided by the National Park Service, photographically tells the historic and modern story of the uninhabited island, scarred by the World War II battle. Kiska is one of eight Alaska World War II sites designated a National Historic Landmark.

Attu 75, the second exhibit, is a long-term one highlighting the Battle of Attu, the only ground battle of World War II to take place on U.S. soil.
