Family time around the holidays is a must, and one way to enjoy each other’s company is an outing to select your Christmas tree. While some visit a tree lot, others head to the backcountry.
Chugach National Forest in Southcentral Alaska has an entire guide for cutting down a tree. The Tanana Valley State Forest in the Interior has several sections of land available and offers information on how to cut down the perfect tree. In Southeast Alaska, Tongass National Forest has several districts open to tree-cutting.
Make sure you know the rules before you cut. Happy holidays, Alaska!
