Breaking down barriers to HIV prevention

by The 100 Companies

HIV cases have been on the rise in Fairbanks and the Interior in 2023 (in addition to increased rates of sexually transmitted infections). While not at epidemic levels, the Alaska Department of Health is urging prevention as the best protection.

The Alaska AIDS Assistance Association offers opportunities for testing, prophylactic treatment and financial assistance for prescription medication. In addition to its services and mission to reduce stigma, the organization fosters “community and camaraderie” with trivia nights, Friday lunches and walks on local trails.

Another vital source: Alaska Public Health Alert Network’s links to care, resources and testing around the state.
