Celebrating 100 years of Taku Glacier Lodge in 2023

by The 100 Companies

Originally built in 1923, Taku Glacier Lodge sits across from Hole-in-the-Wall Glacier on the Taku River in Southeast Alaska. While the lodge is most famously known for its grilled salmon recipe, you might also have heard of one of its most notable caretakers, Mary Joyce.

A famous Alaska woman pioneer, Joyce raised sled dogs, guided hunters and entertained tourists at the lodge in the 1930s.

Many families have called the lodge home since 1923. Now owned by the Ward family, this uniquely Alaska destination will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in 2023 and will continue to welcome visitors for generations to come.
