Alaska Travel Industry Association announces designated tribal seat on board of directors

by The 100 Companies

The Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA), Alaska’s leading statewide nonprofit membership association for the travel industry, recently voted to designate a seat on its board of directors to a member of a federally recognized tribe in Alaska or a shareholder of an Alaska Native Corporation.

ATIA president and CEO Jillian Simpson said, “The idea gained critical mass in the past year as our cultural marketing efforts increased and we collaborated with Indigenous content producers for recent campaigns.”

Alaska has always been a distinctly Indigenous place and ATIA is proud to continue to collaborate on cultural tourism initiatives across the state.
