The Sitka History Museum originally opened its doors in 1967 to provide educational programs and exhibits to the community. It temporarily closed for renovations and officially celebrated its grand reopening at Harrigan Centennial Hall on July 26.
The museum is home to five permanent exhibits and one rotating special exhibit dedicated to showcasing local Alaska history. The first temporary exhibit focuses on Alaska’s World War II history and includes many seldom-seen artifacts.
Founded by the Sitka Historical Society, the museum is home to many unique artifacts that tell the story of Sitka. Learn more about the museum’s history online.
