Every summer, Alaskans take advantage of the warm weather and participate in footraces across the state. One of the first big races is the Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon. It’s held the Saturday closest to the summer solstice and draws participants from all over.
A few weeks later, thousands will descend on the coastal community of Seward for the Mount Marathon Race on the Fourth of July. Alaskans can finish off their racing season with team members in the Klondike Road Relay. The race takes participants from Skagway through White Pass and ends in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
