Feb. 27 is International Polar Bear Day, a day to learn ways you can support polar bears and also to absorb some interesting facts. Did you know that polar bears are great swimmers and can weigh up to 1,760 pounds?
It’s also a great chance to learn in an up-close and personal way while visiting the Alaska Zoo’s newest polar bear residents, Cranbeary and Lyutyik. They were introduced to each other Jan. 31 and are now sharing a habitat. If you can’t visit them in person, check out the live polar bear camera or relive their first encounter.
