Being a veteran means you’ve experienced grief and hardship, but also immeasurable joy and love.
To me, it means sacrificing days, weeks and months of your time away from your loved ones and home, missing birthdays, holidays, weddings and funerals, and experiencing sleepless nights and longer days pursuing democracy for all.
But it’s also having a network of friends that became family and appreciating the time you get to spend with your loved ones more. Most importantly, it’s showing up for your fellow Americans in the good times and in times of need.
We salute you and thank you, veterans.
